What is Christian Fasting?
Christian Fasting is fasting not to lose weight but to get closer to God. This is done by humbling ones self by refraining from eating or restricting yourself in some way.
It also serves a cleansing purpose and it can clear the mind to be able to hear God more clearly through dreams or even visions.
It can help you manage the volume of the ego (the voice always playing in your head) and tune into God.
Fasting played a very important role in the Old Testament when kings would declare nationwide fasts or when Prophets would receive visions.
Fasting's role in the early Church or the Way seems to be understated. During every transformative event they were fasting. From Christ's baptism to the transfiguration, to the apostles receiving the Holy Spirit and even when new followers would join the Church.
This site is to dig deeper into why fasting was such a cornerstone of the early christian church and what effects bringing it back could have.
